The systematic murder of millions of European Jews must not be reduced to a faceless statistic or historical anomaly.
Shadows of Shoah is an artistic project, communicating the gravity and significance of the Holocaust in a unique way. Using black and white photography and original music, selected episodes from survivors experiences are presented in a brief, compelling format. To reach a new generation for whom the Holocaust holds little relevance or significance, we have attempted to produce powerful and evocative art while carefully maintaining historical accuracy.
The Shadows of Shoah iPad app contains a sample of our work:
• two videos featuring the accounts of five survivors
• black and white portraits
Also included are links providing further information on the events and places referenced in the survivors accounts along with suggestions for further study.
Shadows of Shoah is a comprehensive project and includes the following:
• an international audiovisual art exhibition. The Shadows of Shoah is available for permanent installation as well as for touring to museums, galleries, community cultural centres, schools, libraries, churches and synagogues.
• online movies at www.shadowsofshoah.com
• a simplified static photographic exhibition
• a Shadows of Shoah coffee table book (future)
• this free Shadows of Shoah iPad app will be fully developed to include comprehensive educational resources.
